The tumultuous relationship between Josh Gordon and the Cleveland Browns has apparently come to an end. The team has informed Gordon that he will be released on Monday. Gordon has spent as much time serving suspensions as he has on the active roster. He looked as if he was going to be football’s next emerging star as he had a breakout 2013 season. But since then, has had several issues with violating the league’s anti-drug policy.
Not many details have come out regarding the decision. It seems looks as if Gordon hurting his hamstring at a promotional shoot causing him to miss Sunday’s game against the Saints was the last straw. While this is unfortunate, I don’t think a player of Gordon’s talent will remain unemployed for long, despite his issues. I also think Gordon isn’t sulking about being out of Cleveland who has only been able to manage two winning seasons since coming back into the NFL in 1999.
