“I get high, high, high, high………” – Styles P

LookPicsArt_01-27-10.13.12, I’m not going to sugar coat anything. I’m not going to beat around the bush or waste any time. I’m going to get right to it. If you’re an athlete, I have bad news for you…………you’re an addict. 

Everyone isn’t strung out though. You have your functional addicts, the casual users, the social users and then there’s the full out, neck scratching, do anything for a hit, can’t live without it, let the product take over your life junkies. Now when it comes to sports, you want to be a junkie. You want to go to sleep dreaming about it and wake up with it on your mind.

Now I know some of you may have the “What the hell is he talking about?” face right now. Allow me to explain. If you want to be a great athlete you need to get hooked on drugs ASAP. One drug is going to be automatically forced upon you anyway. Adrenaline. There is nothing like the rush of competition. Adrenaline is the cocaine of the athletic world (Well actually…………cocaine is the cocaine of the athletic world but just go with me on this). Hard work, dedication, discipline, attention to detail, listening should also be on your list of contraband. You need to take these drugs in their purest form. Get it in your system everyday. And make sure you reup before you run out of work.

Don’t get me wrong, you don’t want to sample every product on the open market. Some things you don’t want to get addicted to. Laziness, bad attitudes, know-it-all-ism, being un-coachable, being one dimensional, complacency, you get those things in one bag and that’s like a spiked package. Jogging that last sprint because you’re tired, bashing your teammates, ignoring your coaches, not working hard in practice is like firing up baking soda. Remember that scene on The Wire when Johnny and Bubbles shot up with Arm & Hammer? That’s you. (If you haven’t seen The Wire then I just don’t know what to tell you.) The fake and synthetic drugs are shortcuts. Unreal athleticism with no fundamentals is just like smoking hookah (lol). That little hockey puck looking thing burns out real quick. Just like you’re not gonna be able to dunk from the free throw line forever. It’s not addictive or long lasting. Get you some smack man. This fake stuff isn’t gonna get you where you want to be.

It’s some really bad stuff out there too. Once you become a pro (sometimes even before) you have to deal with the ultimate vices: money, fame, women. Three of the most powerful, destructive drugs on the planet. These are your over the counter drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, stuff like that. Money is like going to CVS and getting a prescription for Vicadin. You take it in the prescribed dosage and you get rid of your headache (get a big payday and solve your financial problems). But then like how they make you feel and you start taking them when you don’t need to (you start ballin outta control, living outside your means, getting reckless). Fame and women are purely recreational hahahahahaha. On the surface, it looks like they’re harmless but smoke too many cigarettes and drink too much alcohol and see what happens.

All in all, make sure you’re addicted to the right things. GET HOOKED!!!!!! A player like Kobe, he’s probably going through withdrawals right now. He was a full out junkie. He was shooting up multiple times a day (practiced with Poly Tech varsity team, then practiced with UCLA, then practiced with the Lakers faithfully). That’s the only way to get your fix (be a winner). Stay away from the bad stuff and shady dealers and you’ll be fine. Get addicted to the right things. Be Kobe.
